@alexchapman @destranis that's very ironic from her, because, she tends to act... Rather, uh, combative. *Clears throat** klango thread anyone? You'll know what I mean when you see the posts... But no alex your kinda making the situation worse, because, deliberately doing things like this can get you outed. Just don't look at the posts and things. Or just don't reply. I know I'm not one to talk since I react at times too but...
@Mayowa Oh people can try to out me, but I'm not gonna go anywhere, I can easily make alts if it comes to it, so people can try to out me, but I'll come back again and again. @destranis
(Okay I'm done, I think. I think I'm done. Oops ai started ranting again.)
(Anyways now that I've given a rousing, energetic speech that was coherent and uplifing to me personally, I'm sure that'll magically spread widely and realign everyone who I might later interact with to be at minimum aware of my position. That is definitely how that works.)
Russia has escalated its attacks on Ukraine with around-the-clock bombings. Civilians are killed every day by Putin’s jet drones and ballistic missiles. So here is my question to European leaders:
What is the plan?
Will Europe sit idly by while Putin continues the slaughter of Ukraine’s civilian population through this winter?
Or will we finally — in the 5th year of this war — join Ukraine on the battlefield and defeat the Hitler of our time?
Isn’t Hotel California just a ghost story?

@destranis You’re not my mother, Bitch, so don’t tell me what to fucking do! Don’t like it? Then get off Mastodon, because I’m not going anywhere! @Mayowa

@farah The Fireman sounds intriguing; I will keep an eye out for that. Another Star Trek Alumni who narrates audio-books is Wil Wheaton.
I especially like when the author reads his own book. Of course, all of Cory Doctorow's books are great, but my favorite (if you can find it) is a novella called "Grail" read by the author, Harlan Ellison. It's a mind blower.
@Ambulocetus I don’t really care for Wil Wheaton’s voice. I heard Ready Player One. It was mid. Not sure if it was the book or him

For Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, even a marginal erosion of support in his biggest political stronghold in Brazil's northeast could cost him his reelection. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2026/09/29/world/politics/lula-vote-brazil-election/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #worldnews #politics #luizinacioluladasilva #flaviobolsonaro #brazil #southamerica

YOU ARE LIKELY TO BE EATEN BY A GRUE
@dirtwizard666 There was a wacky Zork send up I played as a teenager called Enlightenment.

I won't spoil too much, but The Grue features heavily in the premise and it's very cute.
(or, at least I thought it was in 1998!)
Stephen Fry reading Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy was phenomenal too

La Coxinha es una empanada en forma de pirámide
But if you follow a world history argument, the discourse of universal rights and citizenship was universalized precisely in the efforts of non-Europeans. . . . The early #Caribbean school of world history . . . had already argued for the precocity of the Caribbean experience in the development of the modern world. . . . [T]he idea of universal rights was made universal not in the French Revolution, but in the struggle of the Black Jacobins in Haiti. This argument . . . demonstrates that the genealogy of universal rights isn’t purely Western; this idea comes to India via France AND Haiti.

If you’re a man wondering what you can do about the Cornell 7 situation: cut off that guy you know who has committed assault. That’s literally it. Tell him to his face, “I can’t be friends with people who act like this”.
Like, I'm a 36 year old man from the US. I grew up with Video Games as a central part of my life.
But I was also inconsistently poor, a compulsive yard-sale/fleamarketer, a shareware gremlin, arcade obsessed...
Games I feel like I have to include:
- Tomba
- Pokemon (silver, which I put the most time in as a kid)
- Ratchet and Clank
- The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
- Tony Hawk's Pro Skater
- Spider and Web (I wrote about that one, and how important it was to me, a few years ago. It was absolutely formative.)
- ZZT (my first introduction to game development!)
- DiscMUD (my first online game)
- Runescape (the MMO I've spent the most time on in my life)
- H.E.R.O. (My favorite game for the atari 2600, which was for years my favorite game console)
- Final Fantasy Tactics
- Donkey Kong '94 (perhaps the game I've played the most in my life)
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time (the first game I finished in an arcade, with three other kids.)
- MULE
- Starship Titanic
- Jazz Jackrabbit
- Goddamn DOOM, holy shit I've put so much time into Doom.
- Sonic 3D Blast 2 (The DOOM Total Conversion fan game)
- Chexquest
- Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (the first home console game I ever finished)
- Virtual On Cybertroopers (the arcade game I've spent the most money on in my life)
- Joust (my first favorite video game)
- Gorilla.bas (for obvious reasons)
- Oregon Trail (I'm too young for this, but I fixed our school's Apple IIs so I could play it)
- Summon Knight: A Swordcraft Story (the first game I had to special order. The second one is better, but they're both excellent.)
... I could just keep going.
I could probably do a top 9 arcade games, and a top 9 atari 2600 games, and a top 9 shareware games and ... etc. etc. etc. and still probably have to leave more things than I'm happy with on the table.
And like, obviously that's absurd.
I don't even play video games anymore.
